Well This Changes Things

Created by: Waffelz
Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 7, 2024
Published: May 7, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assumes Smith & Celebrini elect to go pro, and leave school. Also assumes Couture is now LTIRetired, and Musty gets a look with the Sharks but ultimately ends up back in the OHL.

Those two add a ton to their center depth, but the Sharks still need some help on the wings and defense. I think the goal for the year should be not last, but definitely not expecting playoffs or anything like that. Let the young guys play and develop together, keep a few vets around to teach.

Tons of cap space left open to pick up overpaid contracts, or maybe a miracle happens and Couture gets healthy.

Hell yeah it changes things! Great day to be a Sharks fan.

Ghost would help the pp but he's weak on defense. Check out Oliver Ekman-Larsson instead.

Feel the same about Debrusk. Celebrini and Smith are high skill but smallish. We should add some big, physical, defensively minded UFAs to support them. Add UFAs who can play D and let Celebrini and Smith bring the O.

Imo the Sharks need someone like Debrusk to fill out the top 6, you really don't want the entire top of the lineup to be guys under 24. I can see Ghostisbehere not being the best choice though, maybe someone like Dylan Demelo instead?

DeMelo would be a great addition, but I don't think he's strong on offense/pp. Maybe Roy?

Maybe. If Mukhamadulin develops into someone that can drive offense, maybe it won't be as necessary to get an offensively-minded guy.

Yep I like the DeBrusk signing a lot. Ideally gets him or Bertuzzi. Swap DeMelo or even more ideally (though less likely) Roy/Pesce for Ghost.

I'd like to see Muk w/ SJ Sharks this year.
