Why make the defense worse? And why throw away the 14th overall pick for Marner who will just leave after a year.

Sign guys through free agency to round out the offense AND defense, but don't give up young players and future assets, wtf

Marner will help Macklin a lot in his development and it was supposed to be a sign and trade but Idk how to do one.

sign and trades are so rare in the NHL they aren't really worth considering. Marner isn't worth that much, we've all seen what a ghost he is in the playoffs.

I'm a BIG proponent of going after Marner so I like this idea in theory. However -- obviously would much rather sign him as a UFA next season for free rather than part with a 1st and two 2nds (Ferraro's roughly worth a 2nd).

Having said that, Celebrini still needs help this year if he's to make the jump to the Sharks. Therefore, I think Sharks should target Reinhart who's almost just as good and a similar player. They can sign him without having to part with any assets.
