Big Mac is only 30, is a solid physical presence, can play forward and defense, and is a solid veteran to keep around. Fully buriable cap hit, so this is really not a huge deal.

I don’t think it’s that bad. The term sucks yes, but, NJ could bury him in the minors no problem and get that cap hit back.

Wow that's a high cost. It's buriable but like 3 years at 1.15 is definitely more than I expected

Doesn't bother me. They're only paying him about $175k more than last year which isn't that bad since the caps going up by around $5m.

Worst case scenario they bury him in the AHL with no cap penalty

MacDermid is terrible even on bottom of the lineup standards. How he’s managed to sign multiple contracts with term is baffling to me.
