I'm sure it's fine. Just wrong team. I don't think there would be extra value for Holl in such a big deal, bad cap always needs to go the other way.

I haven't seen enough of Buium to have an opinion of him. All I know is Steve moved up to draft him.
I would personally rather do picks. 2 2nds, your choice between 2024-2026, Maatta 50%, conditional pick (Boston gets their 2025 4th if Detroit makes the playoffs).
I understand the desire of wanting a prospect, it's the same reason I wouldn't want to trade one of those.

This isn't far off from the trade you posted yesterday. I excluded Chychrun and dropped the first two a second, possibly 2 if healthy. Swapped Maatta with the better Chiarot. Then swapped Copp for the cheaper Veleno.

Ullmark to Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I think this is more you being overly critical of your team. Every team has flaws. Look at Jersey’s goalie, bottom lines on both forward and defense. Hell, I look at Boston and see holes they overcome with great coaching and Sweeney’s ability to find fits with cheaper players
Acknowledge Jersey has two centers that are the hardest part of the rebuild, but yours is damn good too and I take Moritz over most young defenders in the league.
When we faced Detroit, I always felt they looked better than Jersey last year and they had a better record.
Maybe I’m overrating your young talent across the board, but I don’t think I am. I’m also of the opinion that you may be giving Jersey too much credit based on their parts rather than the sum of their parts. I’m curious how Keefe is doing to do there. Personally always liked Ruff more and am curious to see how they do. I view Allen as an upgrade from Vanacek.
I don’t think the discrepancy between fringe playoff and perceived good team is that great.
As a third line option, probably some.</div></div>
I may be over critical but unless some solid upgrades can be had, we will regress. With our current roster, we could still meet the status quo of this season. Some players that I would like and that are frequently targeted are Matt Roy and Dakota Joshua. Signing both of them would make our team tougher to play against but that also means we lose some offense. We would really only have one good offensive line and hope that our depth can contribute. There are scenarios where we could potentially make a bunch of moves to help the roster but when do you actually see a ton of moves made in one offseason?
It would be ideal to include any cap we can in an Ullmark deal. Maatta at 1.5M retained, or ideally a bit less retention, could be helpful. That means one less move to make. I think Maatta has some value to some teams so he might not be the hardest to move.

Just an idea
No reason to do the Ras trade from Detroit perspective. Not for future picks and a player you want to dump, who costs more than Rasmussen.
The value to dump Mikheyev is probably around a 2nd rounder which means you have Ras for a third. Just really not worth it unless it's an overpay. We can take Mikheyev but you have to overpay for Ras to make us want to move him. If we do trade him, it's likely to upgrade the team. A deal for Necas or similar.

What Would A Perfetti-Barron Trade Look Like
Maybe Utah does that, who knows. Considering they got Durzi for a second I feel like that's a bit rich for Harris, we will see though.
Who's paying for the retention on Armia? Also, even at 50%, they can likely just re-sign Martinook or Noesen for similar or cheaper. No reason to pay for him.
Why does Florida pay for someone they can just have for free when he doesn't get tendered a qualifying offer? They probably have their own internal options they would rather go with.
That Winnipeg trade is astronomically bad for the Jets. Perfetti > Barron and 26OA. Iafallo and 123OA > Dvorak and 57OA. Why are they adding a prospect and 37OA?

Ullmark to Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJTM</b></div><div>The OP and I have been having a conversation about this from New Jersey’s perspective over the course of several threads. The offer of two seconds (or a second and a prospect) is where my offer stands. I think it’s hard for Boston to find a team that would part with more than that for Ullmark.
The second rounder I keep including is the 2025 WPG second rounder which New Jersey has from the Tyler Toffoli trade. I’d argue that this pick is more useful because it can be traded again between now and the trade deadline in the next season for whatever issue might arise for Boston.</div></div>
I also like the value of two seconds as well. As a team that is still rebuilding, trading prospects that have developed well and are about a year away from making an impact is less than ideal. NJ is in a better position to make a play for him as they have a good core of guys already and really good young players starting to make an impact. Detroit is much further behind that NJ in that aspect.

Ullmark to Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>All you have to do is look at New Jersey to see what bad goaltending and rushing a kid who isn’t ready can do to a good team.
They basically took an athletic, young goalie prospect in Akira Schmid and made him fodder / killed his confidence to the point where he was average in the AHL. Supplemented him with their version of Husso in Vanacek. It was a brutal disaster where a team that should have made the playoffs has a top 10 pick.
My assumption is Boston would target Wallinder or Buium (Monty’s Denver connection) along with one second.
I don’t believe Yzerman thinks this team is that far from competing or he wouldn’t have done the moves he did last year. Frankly, people point to Jersey and you’re basically a similar team.</div></div>
There won't be any rushing of Cossa. He likely gets a couple games this season and if all goes well is the back up next season. He won't be taking the reigns anytime soon unless he earns them.
We aren't close to where New Jersey was before this season. Not by a long shot.
Yzerman completely avoided the question when asked if playoffs were the goal this year. I think he understands this team is going to take a step back. The only significant move he made last year was adding Debrincat and he's going enough to be around for quite some time. Petry and Compher are stop gaps.
We are not a deep enough team to make the playoffs. We got lucky with Kane and have the cap space to add Gost to help with the powerplay, which was all he was good for. We currently need two top 6 forwards and a top 4 RHD. Adding a goalie, which I do agree is also desired, I don't think is top priority. If we can't upgrade the roster then Ullmark won't fair much better than the goalies we currently have. I do believe he is significantly better though.
Would the Bruins have interest in Maatta at 50%?

Ullmark to Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>1. Husso has only one year left on his contract and can be buried in the AHL His salary doesn’t change the fact that he sucks and isn’t an NHL caliber goaltender at this stage of his career. You can try to squeeze competence out of him, but it’s a fruitless exercise. .
2. Cossa is an interesting goalie prospect. If he emerges, it will likely be as part of a rotation. Waiting for a young goaltender to be a number 1 is just a terrible way to develop a goalie especially one who isn’t particularly strong fundamentally. Cossa can develop into an Ullmark type long term if developed correctly
3. They should be able to fit in Ullmark salary wise.
Yzerman has been acquiring veterans to supplement this team. People want to pretend like young teams don’t have stabilizing presences on them. There is no such thing as trying to have all young players unless your objective is to get in the top 5.</div></div>
Buyout for Husso is more reasonable of Ullmark is traded at the draft, if it's an offseason move it makes it more complicated.
The money isn't awful for Detroit but in order to make upgrades we would have to make cap moves that likely cost us. Maatta and Fabbri are the likely candidates. Making those moves from a position of weakness instead of strength will likely cost us draft capital.
Cossa is still a few years away but so far he has been looking good. He called be looking at back up duties as soon as 25/26 season if he has another good year in GR.
I'm not opposed to Ullmark but I would rather send two seconds. Trading good prospects right now would slightly slow the rebuild. At least you picked someone from a position of strength for us. I feel like we shouldn't be trading prospects yet as we would have to draft a replacement and wait even longer for them to be impactful to the team.

Ullmark to Detroit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJTM</b></div><div>Hi it’s me again. I have a hard time making the case for Detroit doing this. There are some problems:
1. There is a hidden cost in getting out of Ville Husso’s contract. Detroit probably has to give up a draft pick to get out of his contract which adds to their overall acquisition cost of Linus Ullmark.
2. Detroit has major work to do this off season. They have 5 unrestricted free agents that need to be retained or replaced and Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider need big time contracts.
3. I cannot see Detroit giving up any kind of significant treasure for a goaltender on an expiring contract when they have what they think is the goalie of the future (Sebastian Cossa) in waiting. You may not think he’s the goalie of their future, but they have to think internally that he is.</div></div>

Ullmark to Detroit
I'm on the side of Detroit fans that wouldn't be interested in this deal. The value is fine just that I don't think it's worth it for us with where we are as a team. Ullmark doesn't instantly make us a playoff team and we would have to make a bunch of other cap moved to upgrade other areas. I'm also high on Wallinder.
Detroit as a team wouldn't be trading picks and prospects for veterans yet.

The Yzerplan Is Expired
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>If it takes 8-10 years to rebuild a team in today's NHL you are doing it very wrong. It should take a max of 5 years, first two years should be the sell off aquiring as many 1sts and 2nds as possible and finishing in the top 5-10 of the draft. Next 2 years should be the development years (finishing 10-16th in the draft) each year building on the next with your top prospects already securing roster spots. Final year is the filling out of the roster, signing FA's, trading for veteran leaders with playoff experience (preferably former cup winners) and proven playoff preformers. This 5th year should be the first taste of the playoffs either as a WC team or 3rd place divisional leader. The prospects are so close in skill these days and the development departments invest so much time and money that it no longer takes a prospect 4-5 years to be NHL ready, even lower round picks start taking roster spots in the first 3 years now.</div></div>
That's not true at all and it depends on the team also lottery luck. Yzerman took over in 2019 with a ton of bad contracts and an empty prospect cupboard. It takes time to build through the draft and you can't hit on every player. Your timeline is extremely unrealistic.
