"getting younger" signs Stamkos

Also, why would Philly deal Farabee for that?

Middle 6 wingers can be had in UFA. Those kind of assets are way better off finding a decent RHD.

I don't think they do. Not for that price anyways. I don't mind Farabee but this isn't it.

I just don't think the price is as high as you think it is. Wallinder is a bottom pair guy at best, Soderblom is a Bottom 6 guy at best, and 2nds usually result in one of those two things as well. We already have a million of those players in the pipeline, we need a young winger that can contribute on the 2nd line and that's what Farabee is. I think now is the time to start selling off some assets to acquire some talent before those assets expire.

He actually made our team a lot older by swapping Laughton & Risto for Stamkos & Martinez.

Both of these trades are bad for Flyers and shouldn't be done.

Both Perron and Sprong put up similar numbers with less TOI. Wallinder is easily a middle pair dman and that's because he isn't better than Edvinsson. But he is better than a 3rd line winger which is where Farabee was at the end of the season. I have nothing against Farabee but Wallinder and a 2nd is too much!!!!

You're higher on Wallinder than I am and that's ok, I get it. But I still don't see a spot for Wallinder on this team in at least the next 2-3 seasons with Walman, Edvinsson and Maatta/Johansson all in the lineup before him. I understand you value him highly but the fact of the matter is NHL GMs won't value him as highly until he plays some NHL minutes and that's probably not gonna happen in Detroit. So as it stands now, this may be as high as his value gets to other GMs. Also to your Sprong and Perron point, those guys are what they are, I think Farabee still has more in him with as young as he is and could probably produce more with some better line mates than what he had in Philly.

Yeah thats true but i forgot to put in my title and add a big free agent. Martinez i figure he can be like our 6th 7th d. Okay maybe the Toronto one is bad looking back at it but i would think the Detroit one is something to consider especially adding another young d in the prospects pool and having 6'8 center sounds the most flyers thing to do.

Detroit declines. soda has more value to the wings than other teams and is low risk / high reward. Wallinder is the Wings best LHD prospect with Edvinsson graduating. Buium/Johansson/Cleveland will duke it out for the 3LHD spot.

If you're going to move any one it should be Walman he always joins the rush and it's holding Seider back. Wallinder was really raw he drafted but he has far more skill than Walman. Plus Farabee is a winger he won't be getting 16 min a game on the 3rd line and he won't be getting pp time. He's already 28 and his performance has more todo with his situation than anything else. As younger players like Forrester, Brink and Tippett got more comfortable that passed him on the roster. Seriously let Montreal overpay for the average 3rd liner and be happy when he puts up less points than he did this season.
