Couple big things I guess in this one, Please let me know what you think of it:
The first thing was getting rid of some old ppl mainly
Burns has not looked as good as he did a season ago, and got worse in the playoffs, so I used him as trade leverage I guess to get a good young defenseman in Guhle. He seems like a hurricanes type player, and while I dont think that montreal will necessarily take burns, I think a three team trade could be likely, prob with a fringe playoff team if that makes sense. I just don't know how to do 3 team trades.
I know that the first rounder for him is optimistic, but the flyers have an two and felt as if after the Carter Hart incident they probably will need a goalie. Anderson, as much as he has done for the canes, needs to be dropped in favor of Kochetkov. He was the main goalie this year, and was better than serviceable. He is young too, which is a definite factor. Anderson and Burns were also a ton of cap space I needed for the second big part which was:
Resign as many ppl in the offensive top 6 as you can.
Guentzel, Necas, and Jarvis are all top priority signs for me, with necas being 3rd. I signed necas to a 1 year, because I was thinking that they could experiment with him as a center, which is the only real way I see him staying for more than a year or two.
Teuvo, Martinook, Pesce, and Skjei kind of had to go to make way for younger players, which I honestly had a lot of. I resigned DeAngelo to a 1 year as a bridge before the arrival of Nikishin. I don't thin many other teams will take a chance on him, and he seems to get a long here, and he is good at running the power play, which I think carolina needs.
Chatfield is a great defensive defender, and I feel as if he is a great partner with Orlov. The fourth line is fairly young ngl, but that what you have to do when there is a ton of resignings needed. I am optimistic about the third line though, I think it could be a really good grind line, and it is definetly a little old school, but I like it.

Yeah ik i am lowkey hoping for a 3 team trade and we probably throw in a first to Montreal, I just dont know how to do it on here. Maybe with a fringe playoff team that thinks burns is a missing piece or something. I am j trying to cope after the rangers series.
I think your logic behind what they should try to do this offseason makes sense, but I think you're way overvaluing what Anderson and Burns would get on the trade market
Well first of all, both teams decline those trades. Second, Spencer Martin as Kochetkov’s backup seems like quite a gamble.
I know but anderson looked so damn shaky in net, even if he wasnt letting in goals. He had a lot of trouble staying on his feet, and the defense seemed to not trust him. Once someone loses that trust its hard to make a comeback. In the limited games martin played I honestly did not hate the way he looked. Perets can also be called up if Martin reaaaally looks as if he is struggling, he played a game last year. I honestly think at the level the canes are at, they need to stop worrying about finishing in the presidents trophy race, and just make the playoffs, similar to the lightning and Vegas. They need to find a top tier goalie, and I think kochetkov can be it, so they should imo give him like 50 ish game workload and see how he does

Definitely. the anderson trade is a ****ing prayer, I just think its time for him to go and free up the cap space. WIth burns i want to do a three team trade with a team in the playoff bubble, but i dont know this site well enough. I would be willing to throw in a first to montreal and give him to the bubble team.

He was good in very limited action this season but he’s only good with periodic starts. If he’s playing 20+ games for you that’s not great

Maybe. I didnt watch him at CBJ, the main problem was the absolute hell canes have with the top 6. they have to make some sacrifices somewhere to get the cap space, and I trust the defense to support a semi shaky goalie. With anderson playing the worst i have seen him they almost took the presidents trophy team to 7 games, and honestly should have. I don't think the offense is the problem anymore, I think it is age.
Carolina fans are going to get pissy about this but the hurricanes literally only have 2 assets that would be or ANY interest to the habs in a guhle trade.

Yeah as a canes fan its pretty hard to know how much a team and their fans value a non superstar player. I doubt its just aho and svech though, I think we could probably send a package deal with someone like Drury, a 2nd, and morrow, but I was just trying to be optimistic lol. I try to watch as much hockey as I can, but I barely have enough time to catch all of the canes games. And even then I am watching from the perspective as an outsider.
Flyers have no interest in a 34 year old goalie. They don't need one, let alone paying third to get one. If anything in this scenario you'll be paying Philly to take him.
